Words from Rev. Billy Kilgore

As the pastor of First Christian Church I seek to assist the congregation in serving downtown Chattanooga and beyond. We reach out to our neighborhood through the Community Kitchen, Brown Academy, Habitat for Humanity, campus ministry, and other forms of service. You are invited to join us as we take our ministry outside the walls of the church.

I am a native Chattanoogan and graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After completing my degree at UTC I attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

At this time I feel called to serve in the church and to seek ordination in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). I am excited to be back in Chattanooga and ministering to the needs of the downtown community.

When I am not stuck inside I like to explore the beautiful mountains and river that surround Chattanooga. If you are interested in hiking, let me know. As for entertainment I love good books, good movies, good movies, and good food. My favorite movies are Good Will Hunting, Back to the Future trilogy, Hoosiers, Jerry McGuire, and Dead Poets Society. I love to read anything by Parker Palmer, Rick Bragg, and Barbara Brown Taylor.
