Children's Ministries

Whether your child is 6 months old or in 5th grade, they’ll find a space crafted with them in mind.

Sunday School Schedule

Christian Education classes are available for children and adults at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

Where to Go

On Sunday mornings, come in through the primary entrance and a volunteer will be there to greet you and show you the way.

At First Christian, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, curious, and deeply respected as the whole people they already are. Our ministry spaces—from the Nursery to Children’s Church—are shaped by Montessori principles and the conviction that every child arrives already carrying wisdom, wonder, and their own way of encountering God.

We intentionally design our environments to meet a wide range of developmental, emotional, and spiritual needs. This includes children who are neurodiverse, such as those with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, or other learning and attention variations. We recognize that children engage, communicate, and thrive in many different ways—and we design our spaces and rhythms to support that diversity with flexibility and care.

Our Commitment to Saftey

The safety and well-being of every child in our care is a sacred responsibility. We follow a comprehensive Safety of Minors Policy, which means:

  • Every adult who works with children or youth (birth–18) has completed and passed a federal background check.
  • All staff and volunteers receive regular training in child safety, developmental awareness, trauma-informed care, and our church’s childcare policies.
  • Our childcare workers are trained in CPR—including infant CPR—and follow best practices for emergency readiness.
  • We maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios and follow clear procedures for supervision, bathroom assistance, and transitions.

We believe that children deserve to feel safe not only physically but emotionally and spiritually—and that families deserve clarity and trust as they entrust their children to us.

Your First Sunday

If you’re visiting for the first time, we encourage you to arrive 5–10 minutes early to fill out a brief Child Safety & Care Form for each child. This helps us learn what we need to care for your child with attention and respect. The form includes:

  • Allergies or medical needs
  • Sensory or emotional considerations
  • Who may or may not pick up your child
  • Your preferences around diapering and bathroom assistance (e.g., “Please get me if my child needs help” or “Staff may assist as needed”)
  • Pronouns and name preferences for your child
  • Anything else you want us to know so your child feels safe, known, and supported

This form also supports a smoother transition for your child. Arriving a bit early allows them:

  • Time to explore the space
  • Time to meet caregivers
  • Time to get comfortable before their grown-ups step away

We recognize that entering a new environment—no matter how warm—can take courage for little ones. We honor that transition with gentleness, patience, and attention to each child’s unique needs.
